Sue brought up that IAR main legislative goal for the
next year is to work with Dept Revenue on the collec-
tion of sales tax for salvage pool purchases made by
the public since they are not tax exempt. Jim dis-
cussed that the DOT supports tax on salvage on vehi-
cles sold at auctions to public buyers. Jim also gave
his recommendations for PAC donations.
PAC – There was discussion on the allocation of the
PAC fund donations to candidate and legislators. Jim
made recommendations as to the total amount to be
dispersed. Sue brought up the need for some amount
to be available to attend fundraiser such as dinners
and golf outings, etc. Brent made a motion to allocate
$20,000 of the PAC fund be available for PAC dona-
tions to be used as needed. There was a 2

S.; motion carried.
New Business
:
Sue looked for conference locations in Okoboji for the
2015 Summer Outing without much luck in finding a
suitable date or venue. Sue also made inquiries to
Prairie Meadows in Des Moines. The consensus of
the group was that they liked the Des Moines location
over Okoboji because it was centrally location. Sue is
looking at a format change to allow for more time for
training seminars and possibly a banquet honoring
John C Vander Haag as founder of IAR.
Tom S. made a motion to combine the Legislative
Committee and PAC Committee into one group; 2
nd
by Pat. The motion carried.
