Charitable Chariots at Northwest Iowa Community
College and the Iowa Automotive Recyclers (IAR)
partnered in sponsoring a vehicle.
Steven Youngs, Collision Instructor from Northwest
Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa (712-324-
5061
)
developed the learning
program. In the program students at NCC refurbish a
donated vehicle with used auto parts as a training
tool. The vehicle is then donated to a recipient in need
of transportation.
The Pre-Inspection sheet is used to evaluate the vehi-
cle and provide service to every car as a maintenance
update. This has an average cost per vehicle of
$1100. Each car is then evaluated for additional
needs and the information is added to the Pre-
Inspection sheet for parts acquisition.
The basic service package was supported by the
Bootlegger’s Bus Tour event at the Summer Outing,
2014 in Carroll and through generous sponsorships
from Pat’s Auto Salvage, Spilman Auto Parts, Sandhill
auto Salvage, Waterloo Auto Parts and Adam Brickley
at PDCM Insurance. THANK YOU!
The partnership between IAR and Charitable
Chariots will continue to grow.
Steven does an in-
credible job finding the vehicles to rehabilitate and
with continued parts donations/support from IAR
Members this worthy program makes a huge impact
on the lives of the recipients, the community and the
students who take pride in their work using used auto
parts!
