New Business:
Thank You –
Brent expressed his thanks to every-
one for the help in putting on a successful Summer
Outing. Mike S. also thanked Sue for her great or-
ganization of the event and to Jodi for handling the
auction so well. All members appreciated Brent for
hosting the weekend.
Legislative Update –
Sue had recently talked to
Jay Svendsen with Auto Data Direct and Paul Steier
with the Department of Transportation about the Af-
fidavit Bill in discussion. Jay had already drafted an
Iowa NMVTIS rule but he is willing to fold that into a
draft for an affidavit law for Iowa. The IAR needs to
have a definite opinion on this and get that to the
DOT. After much discussion, it was decided to
have Sue talk to Jay at ADD and have him put to-
gether a draft within the next 2 weeks. Sue will
send that out to all board members in hopes of get-
ting comments on it within a week from that point.
Then there will be a conference call to hash through
this to come up with the official IAR position. Jim
Piazza urged us to do this as quickly as possible.
Jim said political fundraisers are already getting set
up and he’d like to take the IAR agenda along with
the IAR contributions to individuals at the fundrais-
ers. The first fundraiser is on Tuesday, June 11
th
at
Nick’s from 4-6 p.m.
Jim Piazza brought up his recommendations for
contributions to be made now. There was a motion
by Mike S. to go with Jim’s recommendation. There
was a 2
nd
by Brent; motion carried. Brent will send
thank-you notes to Representative Jim Lykam and
Senator Tod Bowman for attending the Summer
Outing. Brent moved that IAR support a golf four-
some at the Bill Dix event as recommended by Jim
with a 2
nd
from Mike S.; motion carried.
Summer Outing Wrap-up –
Sue said it was a very
successful event and has received a lot of positive
feedback from attendees. The vendors were very
happy with the weekend. Jodi reported on the auc-
tion which also was successful. She emailed every-
one a list of the donations received. After some dis-
cussion about handling the proceeds, Mike S. made
a motion to disperse the funds as Sue recom-
mended including reimbursing shipping costs to
Brent, funding scholarships and the Charitable
Chariots program and adding $4,000 to the PAC
fund. There was a 2
nd
from Mike W.; motion car-
ried.
Sue said the 2014 Summer Outing has been set for
June 13-14
th
in Carroll, IA. That is also Father’s
Day weekend so it was decided that Sue will ex-
plore whether or not that was a problem to hold the
event that holiday weekend.
