Recyclers News Press
As I sit at my desk trying to think of something
to say for the President’s Pitch, I remember
back to the day when Tim Smith called me and
cornered me, yes cornered me, asking me to
come on the Board of the Iowa Auto Recyclers
Association. Although I was nervous, I felt quite
privileged to be asked. I am so glad I accepted
as it has been a fun and informational experi-
ence for me.
I wish to thank everyone for coming to the Sum-
mer Outing in Maquoketa, Iowa at Nugent Auto
Sales. I would like to give Brent and Sheila a
great big THANK YOU for hosting such a great
outing. The weather turned out nice!
Thanks to the vendors and speakers, who did
an excellent job of informing us of what is avail-
able to Recyclers, for donating through our an-
nual auction and for their continued support of
the Association. I would also like to give a Big
thank you to Sue Schauls for helping the Asso-
ciation pull off another successful outing.
It is such an honor, as one of the smallest yards
in the Association, to be put into the trusted po-
sition of President. I am so thankful for all the
fellow recyclers whom I can call friends. I know
we all have our ups and downs in this business
but it helps to be able to visit openly to fellow
recyclers about ideas and problems that we
face with the changes that are happening in the
world of recycling.
As president I hope to continue to drive forward
our goals we set out for from the beginning, and
future goals to come as changing times
arise. To do this, I would like everyone to
get involved in the discussions, and voice your
thoughts and opinions on issues. I want every-
one to feel comfortable with contacting me if
something arises or if you have a crazy idea,
and I don't care how crazy it is, please voice
it. We have multiple issues coming up in the
legislative area and without everyone's input,
we can't move forward.
Thank you again.
